Life is a continuous way for professional and personal ideals. Scientific research is fundamental for the human development, to make public scientific findings, spread the knowledge and contribute to build the Dentistry, as science. The practice should be based on the principles of scientific methodology. The correlation of the findings of researchers should be linked, through the use of scientific methods, to the clinical features presented by the patients. This dentistry is recognized as an evidence-based practice.

The final product of research may include a solution to an important problem, a product (patent), or a behavioral change. It is important to promote an improvement in the quality of human life. There is an increased recognition of the researcher in consideration about how globally this contribution resulted. The "holistic" approach to quantify researchers' value is opposed to any unnecessary fragmentation of the problem to be solved and the undesirable. The merits and risks are constantly evaluated, and the results should be positive aspects.

As so important is the research "per si" it is the divulgation of the knowledge. A specific knowledge, thorough investigation of certain subjects, should contribute to a faster scientific production with greater impact. Nowadays, our great challenges continue to be increased the number of issues published every year and the number of articles in each issue. These studies should have hard evidence in dentistry and may provide reliable information and consequently more effective clinical treatment for patients.
